Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, even in the drier air mass across far southwest Kansas. This setup will favor dry thunderstorms across far southwest Kansas with isolated lightning flashes with little or no rainfall. The stronger showers will also produce very gusty and erratic winds in an environment with ambient relative humidity well down into the teens percent. Farther east where dewpoints will be higher, thunderstorms would be more capable of large hail ping pong ball size or larger, with that greatest risk east of a WaKeeney to Ness City to Kinsley line.
