Potential Tropical Cyclone Six is currently over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. This system is forecast to become a tropical storm on Monday as it moves northward. PTC 6 will likely strengthen into a hurricane before it reaches the northwestern Gulf Coast by the middle of the week. Swell associated with this system may bring an increased risk of rip currents and elevated surf to Alabama and the western Florida panhandle beaches by early this week. Increased rain chances are also possible by the middle of this week. Residents and visitors should continue to monitor the forecast for updates.
