A winter storm will affect the region from Saturday night into Monday morning. In Iowa, precipitation is likely to begin as a light wintry mix late Saturday night, with freezing rain possible mainly in northern Iowa. The precipitation will then transition through a wintry mix to snow on Sunday with snow falling into Sunday night before ending. At the same time, winds will turn to blow from the north northwest and increase substantially on Sunday and Sunday night, with wind gusts to 50 MPH or higher in some areas. This will cause blowing snow, possibly blizzard conditions, and widespread travel impacts. Be sure to check the latest forecasts and road conditions before any travel!
