Today will be ideal for most outdoor interests as sunny skies accompany high temperatures ranging in the 70s. Northwest to north breezes of 10-15 mph are expected during the day, with some higher gusts. Winds will turn to south southeast by Thursday and strengthen, reaching speeds of 20-30 mph with gusts to near 40 mph in northwest Iowa. Clouds will also increase on Thursday, with rain and thunderstorm chances returning late in the day and into Thursday night. A few storms could be strong in far southern Iowa. From Friday through the weekend warmer weather is forecast with highs in the 80s in many areas, along with more rain chances and the potential for strong storms at times.
