Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in southern Iowa through mid evening. The severe risk is low overall, but a few stronger storms are possible with the main threats of gusty winds, hail, and locally heavy rainfall. A few funnel clouds are also possible. Showers or storms may occur into portions of central or northwest Iowa but the chances are lower. Dry conditions are then expected overnight through much of the day Thursday before rain and storm chances return Thursday evening.
