It has been a near-record month for rainfall across Iowa, and it will end with more widespread and potentially heavy rain. Showers and thunderstorms will move into western Iowa on Tuesday, then persist in a swath that will slowly move across most of the state for a couple of days before finally exiting. The most likely period of heavy rainfall will occur from late Tuesday night into early Thursday, or perhaps even into late Thursday. Total rainfall amounts during this time will be 2 - 4 inches in many locations, with isolated areas potentially receiving up to 6 inches, which will result in renewed flooding concerns. Be sure to stay tuned to the latest forecasts, and possible watches and warnings, as the week progresses.
