January 2025 was on average, cooler than normal for most, and drier than normal for all of Northern and Central Nevada. As only Elko saw warmer than normal temperatures for the month. January climate data for select locations below as highlighted in the graphic. Departures are calculated from the normal derived from the 1991-2020 climatological period. Elko: January 2025 was above normal with an average temperature of 28.9 degrees, which was 1.9 degrees above normal. Elko received 0.24” of rain and 0.6” of snowfall in January, which was below average for both rainfall and snowfall. The averages for rain and snow in January are 1.19” and 10.4” respectively. Ely: January 2025 was below normal, with an average temperature of 25.9 degrees, which was 0.8 degrees below normal. Ely received 0.14” of rain and 1.8” of snowfall in January, which was below average for both rainfall and snowfall, making January 2025 the seventh driest on record. The averages for rain and snow in January are 0.75” and 10.5” respectively. Eureka: January 2025 was below normal, with an average temperature of 25.7 degrees, which was 0.2 degrees below normal. Eureka received 0.51” of rain, which was below average. The average rainfall for January is 0.80”. Tonopah: January 2025 was below normal, with an average temperature of 33.0 degrees which was 0.9 degrees below normal. Tonopah received 0.16” of rain, which was below average. The average rainfall for January is 0.45”. Winnemucca: January 2025 was below normal, with an average temperature of 37.1 degrees. Winnemucca received 0.12” of rain and 0.1” of snowfall in January, which was below average for both rainfall and snowfall, making January 2025 the ninth driest, and tied for the seventh least snowiest on record. The averages for rain and snow in January are 0.96” and 4.4” respectively.
