WEATHER STORY
Los Angeles/Oxnard
Weather Forecast Office
Rain Chances and Timing Storm Impacts Rain with a chance of thundestorms
A strong low pressure system is bringing rain with possible thunderstorms to the area into this weekend. Moderate impacts are expected for the beginning portion of the storm for parts of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. This risk shifts southward to include Santa Barbara, Ventura and LA Counties for Saturday, when the most significant impacts are possible. We are expecting travel delays, blown objects and palm fronds in roadways, rockslides and mudslides on canyon roads, roadway flooding and the potential for significant roadway flooding, increased flow in creeks and streams and swiftwater rescues, and potential for damaging debris flows and flooding in and near recent burn scars. Plan accordingly by limiting travel during the peak of the storm, changing outdoor plans, and following guidance from local law enforcement. Refer to the timing graphic for when the peak of the storm will affect your location.
