Friday
Patchy Fog then Mostly Sunny
Hi 80 °F
NWS forecast: Patchy fog before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. West southwest wind 0 to 10 mph.
Today will be the hottest day of the Rally. We are looking at highs in the 90s - lower 90s in the Hills and northern foothills, upper 90s around Rapid City, and some lower triple digit readings around Hot Springs and in the Badlands.
Overall it will be dry. A few showers or storms are possible over the southern hills and southwestern South Dakota this afternoon. These would be what we call Virga Showers and Dry Thunderstorms. They could contain lightning and gusty winds, but very little rain. Therefore, fire starts could be a concern down there. Thunderstorms are also possible across northwestern South Dakota. These storms could be severe, with strong winds, hail, lightning, and heavy rain.
A cold front moves through tonight, bringing cooler temperatures, breezy northwest winds, and chances for afternoon and evening storms for Friday. Highs on Friday will be in the 70s to lower 80s.
