After a dry couple of days, thunderstorm chances return to the forecast for Independence Day and the holiday weekend. Expecting the first half of the day to be quiet, with storm chances increasing through the afternoon, especially across western portions of the area. Chances look to become more widespread during the evening hours, which may negatively impact fireworks and activities. There will be the potential for some of these storms to be strong to severe, with straight-line winds and heavy rain the primary hazards. Outside of storm chances, expect generally partly cloudy skies, with southerly winds gusting near 25 to 30 MPH. High temperatures are expected to reach into the 80s. Looking to the weekend into early next week, isolated to scattered thunderstorm chances will continue each day, mainly favoring the evening and overnight hours. High temperatures remain in the 80s to near 90 degrees.
