NWS forecast: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. West southwest wind 10 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch possible.
A storm system is expected to bring significant snow to the local mountains tonight into Thursday. By Thursday morning, snow levels are expected to lower to around 3000 feet. Major low elevation passes could be at risk for accumulating snowfall including Highway 5 near the Grapevine, Highway 14 from Acton to Palmdale, and Highway 33 north of Ojai. The strong winds and heavy snow potential will bring the risk for reduced visibilities due to blowing and drifting snow.
