Hazardous marine conditions are expected across Western Lake Superior today and into this evening. Strong west and southwest winds will produce elevated wave heights and dangerous conditions for mariners. Gale Warnings are currently in effect from Grand Marais to Grand Portage and from the Outer Apostle Islands to Ashland and Saxon Harbor. Small Craft Advisories are in effect for all other surrounding nearshore waters. Wind gusts between 30 and 34 knots and wave heights up to 4 to 7 feet are expected during peak hours today. Mariners should review local forecasts and exercise extreme caution or consider remaining in port.
