Climate summary for Meteorological Winter, December 2025 through February 2026, for NE Nevada which overall was warmer, a mix of wet and dry, and less snowier than normal. Elko was warmer than normal for Meteorological Winter 2024-25. The average temperature was 35.6 degrees, which is 7.2 degrees above normal, making Winter 2025-26 1st warmest on record. Elko received 3.17” of rain and 7.3” of snowfall for Winter, which was below average for rainfall, and snowfall, making Winter 2024-25 the 9th least snowiest on record. The averages for rain and snow in Winter are 3.28” and 27.4” respectively. The period of record for the Elko area began in 1888 and the climatological normal is from 1991-2020. Ely was warmer than normal for Meteorological Winter 2025-26. The average temperature in Ely was 34.9 degrees, which is 7.3 degrees above normal, making Winter 2025-26 1st warmest on record. Ely received 2.92” of rain and 13.4” of snowfall for Winter, which was above average for rainfall, and below average for snowfall. The averages for rain and snow in Winter are 3.28” and 27.4” respectively. . The period of record for the Ely area began in 1893 and the climatological normal is from 1991-2020. Eureka was warmer than normal for Meteorological Winter 2025-26. The average temperature was 34.7 degrees, which is 7.7 degrees above normal, making Winter 2025-26 the 2nd warmest on record. Eureka received 1.28” of rainfall for Winter, which was below average, making Winter 2025-26 the 4th driest on record. The average for rainfall for Winter is 2.32”. The period of record for the Eureka airport began in 1997 and the climatological normal is from 1991-2020. Tonopah was warmer than normal Meteorological Winter 2025-26. The average temperature in Tonopah was 40.3 degrees, which is 5.8 degrees above normal, making the Winter of 2025-26 tied for the 2nd warmest on record. Tonopah received 1.86 inches of rainfall for Winter, which was above normal. The average for rainfall for Winter is 1.24”. The period of record for the Tonopah airport began in 1954 and the climatological normal is from 1991-2020. Winnemucca was warmer than normal for Meteorological Winter 2025-26. The average temperature was 37.2 degrees, which is 4.0 degrees above normal. Winnemucca received 1.97” of rainfall and 1.0” of snowfall for Winter, which was below normal for rainfall, and for snowfall, making Winter 2024-25 the 3rd least snowiest on record. The period of record for the Winnemucca area began in 1877 and the Climatological normal is from 1991-2020.
