Climate summary for Meteorological Winter, December 2025 through February 2026, for NE Nevada which overall was warmer, a mix of wet and dry, and less snowier than normal. Elko was warmer than normal for Meteorological Winter 2024-25. The average temperature was 35.6 degrees, which is 7.2 degrees above normal, making Winter 2025-26 1st warmest on record. Elko received 3.17” of rain and 7.3” of snowfall for Winter, which was below average for rainfall, and snowfall, making Winter 2024-25 the 9th least snowiest on record. The averages for rain and snow in Winter are 3.28” and 27.4” respectively. The period of record for the Elko area began in 1888 and the climatological normal is from 1991-2020. Ely was warmer than normal for Meteorological Winter 2025-26. The average temperature in Ely was 34.9 degrees, which is 7.3 degrees above normal, making Winter 2025-26 1st warmest on record. Ely received 2.92” of rain and 13.4” of snowfall for Winter, which was above average for rainfall, and below average for snowfall.
