A series of upper level troughs will continue to influence Nevada through Monday morning. These systems will primarily affect northern Nevada as the storm track is shifting northward, this will draw in warmer air aloft which will cause snow levels to rise through the weekend from 5500 feet to 7500 feet. As a result precipitation type will change to rain in the valleys while the mountain ranges will remain as snow. Overall Valleys will see about 0.10” to 0.30” of rain, passes and roadway summits will see about 0.15” to 0.4” of liquid, which includes up to 1” to 2” of snow. The mountains look to see about 4” to 14” of new snow, which would be 0.40” to 1.40” of water through Monday morning. Looking ahead high pressure moving in from southern California will push the rain and snow out of Nevada and into the Pacific Northwest starting New years eve Tuesday.
