Thursday night into Friday, a splitting upper-level trough will move through the northern Plains. The storm may produce ¼ inch of liquid equivalent precipitation for northeastern Wyoming and the Black Hills with lesser chances on the western South Dakota plains and southern Black Hills. Temperatures will be cold enough for a few inches of snowfall over northeastern Wyoming and the Black Hills with marginal temperatures for accumulating snow elsewhere. The nature of the splitting upper-level trough does concern us due to the pattern’s ability to not give us our full potential moisture. Stay tuned.
