Recent upwelling due to southwest winds led to water temperatures from Duluth to Two Harbors dropping 10-30 degrees. A buoy near McQuade Harbor showed a water temperature reading near 70F yesterday afternoon, falling to 46F this morning. Upwelling may lead to colder water temperatures today for the Twin Ports and up portions of the North Shore, as well as along the east side of the Apostle Islands. If visiting Lake Superior near the Twin Ports today, be prepared for potentially very chilly water!
